Hit the high road

I guess I've been missing long enough and it has definitely been a while since I last updated. So, despite not being in the blogging world for all that long prior, I kind of missed it. So, what have I been up to? Well, for one, I have a new job, and I've been busy with that and school. Also, my friend, Yuki, from Japan visited a couple of weeks ago; so my time was mainly devoted to her.
Anyway, my main point for this post is to share a recent purchase that I feel, both, incredibly guilty about, and extremely satisfied with. I know that everyone splurges on shoes, but I thought the price point was a bit much, and admittedly, I really thought long and hard before buying them. Regardless, in the end, I bought them, and now, I don't regret my decision. In the end, I bought these DKNYC ankle boots... et voila!

On Top of the World

Went to Whistler yesterday with my family. Needless to say, it was beautiful, and breath taking. However, due to my annoying intolerance for long car rides, I fell sick, and was out of commission for pretty much the whole day. Despite that, I managed to frolic around in the snow for a bit. The cold mountain air was really crisp and refreshing, and offered me temporary relief. Anyway, I quickly snapped this little beautie. Hope you like it... I'm not a professional photographer afterall.

Hot Hot Heat

Forever 21 dress, Anne Klein sunglasses, Payless Shoes

It's so hot here in Vancouver. Finally! I thought summer would never arrive, but then again, I don't know how long this will last either. Despite the soaring temperatures, everyone seems to be enjoying themselves, and that's exactly what my boyfriend and I did yesterday. We headed out to the beach after lunch at an amazing Malaysian/Thai restaurant called Tropika. The beach was definitely the sensible choice given the heat, but we were there for only an hour or so since we met up with a friend for a movie. We watched Get Him To The Greek, and it was hilarious! I laughed till my sides hurt. After that ended, we spontaneously decided to watch Grown Ups that night as well. So, we had a double dose of comedy last night, and very worth it. All and all, it was a good end to a good day.

To Lust After

Don't you hate it when you get hung up on something and you can't seem to get it out of your head? Last week, I went shopping with a few of my girlfriends, and I chanced upon a top from Forever 21 that I pretty much fell in love with, and that happens very rarely. Unfortunately, I foolishly did not buy it because it was too spontaneous of a buy for me. A week later (yesterday), I found myself back in the store, scouring every nook and cranny for it, and what do you know? I didn't find it anywhere! So what did I do? I checked the website, and that too let me down due to the lack of my size. Ugh, I'm still kicking myself for my foolishness. Has that happened to anyone else?
Anyway... I should stop my complaining, and move on. On Sunday, I headed out to the Richmond Night Market with the same group of girlfriends. The Night Market occurs annually, and attracts a fair number of people. Honestly speaking, the majority of people I know go there only for the food, and I'm one of them, hehe. After many hectic minutes of trying to maneuver through hoards of people while trying to decide on what to eat, Jess Mai, from http://www.maiphilosophy.blogspot.com/, and I finally decided to try out the rice burgers from a small stall called Sumo Bites. It was buzzing with people, which was definitely a very good sign. Here's a quick snapshot of what they looked like.

As delicious as they were, they were quite messy to eat. The rice patties fell apart easily, and the kimchi that I added to mine fell out and stained my jeans. However, the delicious aspect of the burgers made up for the messiness. (I kinda want one now just thinking about it.)
Next, we moved on to barbecued squid, which was also quite delicious. It wasn't very rubbery like most of the squid I've eaten, and I didn't find myself choking on it like I normally do. Kudos to the cook! He did an excellent job, especially considering the time crunch he was on. Too bad I don't have a picture of that. Hmm, but I think the yummiest escapade of the night had to be the deep fried cheesecake. Sooo good! I'm definitely going back for more. So here I leave you with a picture of some yummy deep fried cheesecake with smores. Mmm.

Ahem, Introductions are in order.

Why hello there =)

As I'm sitting here and typing this, my heart is beating a million times per second. I've always considered starting a blog, but I shied away from it for quite some time. Then, I somehow managed to coax myself into it, and la de da, here I am.

Well, I'll stay true to the post title and introduce myself. I'm Tanya, from the beautiful and breath taking city of Vancouver which I take for granted everyday. (Actually, I'm from a smaller town near Vancouver, but you get the idea.) I didn't always live here... I grew up in India, moved to Toronto when I was 12 and live there for 2 years, and then moved here. Initially I hated living here, but now I can't imagine living anywhere else. Vancouver is such a vibrant city. I can truly call it home.

Anyway, I just want to keep this short and sweet, so I guess I will wrap this up right about now. Thank you for taking the time to read this =)
